Western Sky

I swear

If you took me back

I wouldn’t take even a second for granted

For all we go through in this life

For all the scars you can’t erase

I just can’t understand with a New York Sky above me

I need your glorious magnitude

Perspective when this life is too much to bare

Swallowing back my tears

I know I’ll soon have to leave again

But I wish there was a way for me to stay

I heard heaven is somewhere up there

You seem to hold the hope for us down here

At least for me

You draw me in

Your pull is so strong

And it’s too much to handle on this bus full of people

Misplaced

I know I am

I belong with you

A choir of Joshua trees

Reaching up

Giving praise to you

Taking pictures

“Home”

I know it’s not going to be enough

You take my heart and bring it up there with you

You leave me every time with nothing but this pain

And you have to know

It hurts a little bit more each time

The direction I’m going in is wrong

I know I need you

I need a Western Sky

To forever protect me

Because I can’t understand any of it with the sky I’m under now

Please lead me back to you

I won’t take a second for granted

Only when you are above me

I belong
