A picture of Marie Coombs, editor of the Saguache Crescent, taken by New York photographer Harvey Wang will be on show at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., through October, as part of an exhibition called “Going Strong! Older Americans on the Job.”

The photo is also in Wang’s book (with text by David Isay), Holding On: Dreamers, Visionaries, Eccentrics and other Americans.

Coombs has been editor of the Saguache Crescent for 60 years, and began her career at age four, when her father put her to work hand-folding newspapers. Next month, Colorado Central features an interview with Coombs by Leadville writer Lynda LaRocca.
