Days of infamy

Letter from Katherine Donithorne

War on Terrorism – August 2002 – Colorado Central Magazine

In 1947: The Jews however “inspired” to participate in the founding of Israel were not allowed to enter and, in attempting, attacked by the British. Many immigrants were killed and the others sent to concentration camps.

Sept. 11, 1973: A military coup in Chile overthrowing the democratically elected president, and massacre of protesters, with the aid of the Black Berets — troups trained by USA for that purpose.

Late 1990s: The White Sands Monument gift shop selling earrings dangling reproductions of the two cutely named nuclear bombs that devastated two Japanese cities and civilian population.

Everyday: “The USA…crushing people and cultures without even noting they’re there.” USA citizens inclusively.

In the specific both Pearl Harbor and Twin Towers were a surprise to USA government officials but at those times possible attacks expected. It seems infamy is only declaimed by USA, with cries globally too of rally round, when its on the receiving end of destruction. And war, a call for unquestioning patriotism that obscures domestic ills, and infringements on privacy and freedom of speech. (Patriot Act, Nov. ’01), also gives the excuse for further weaponry development and new factories. Bin Laden won.
