About the Cover Artist: Scott Engel

scott-portPortland, Oregon was my original home until I left for San Francisco in 1971. Practicing at being an artist led me on a path of studying at the San Francisco Art Institute, where I received my BFA. While in San Francisco, I worked at Hansen Fuller Gallery, where I met and was influenced by various artists. To continue my practice of being an artist, my next endeavor involved acquiring an MFA at the University of Colorado while also acting as Director of the UMC Fine Arts Gallery.
After graduating from CU, I held various positions including instructor, coordinator of photography, and chairperson of the art department at Arapahoe Community College. While teaching at Arapahoe Community College, I was able to curate exhibitions at the Colorado Gallery of Arts, including Twentieth Century Gaia, Personal Portraits-Intimate Photographs, and Real Vision. My work is in various collections, including one at the Denver Art Museum.
I currently reside in Coaldale with my wife Janet, and I am excited and motivated to make things, especially photographs.
